By now, most people have forgotten their New Years resolutions. Summer offers an opportunity to break from your old routine, though. If you have a summer resolution to become more tech savvy, then Tranquility has the scoop on how to help you achieve your goal before the fall season comes around. Here’s a list of technology workshops offered in Columbia during the summer season:
MayeCreate Design’s Lunch and Learn Workshops
Tranquility’s sister company, MayeCreate, does website and print design for clients locally and throughout the Midwest. This summer, MayeCreate is offering its annual Lunch and Learn series of hands-on workshops geared to expand attendees’ digital horizons. Lunch from the Bread Basket Cafe is also served during the workshops. Classes take place the second Wednesday of the month at the MayeCreate office, 307 Locust downtown Columbia. The remaining workshops for this summer are Under the Hood of Google Analytics and Flash Back to WordPress.
Cost per class: $20-25

Columbia Public Library’s Technology Programs
The Columbia Public Library offers free, basic technology sessions throughout the year. Some upcoming lessons include Design It With Publisher, Facebook Fundamentals and Google Documents Demystified. Along with lessons, the library regularly hosts drop-in Internet and Computer Assistance sessions. To register for a session or get more information, call (573)443-3161.

University of Missouri IT Training Courses
The University of Missouri Division of IT holds technology classes throughout the year. IT topics include Microsoft Office productivity, the Adobe Creative Suite, web design and programming and movie and animation production. You can register for classes ranging in difficulty from beginner to advanced.
Cost per class: Free for MU students, faculty and staff; $89 for the general public and companies

MacXprts Training Courses
A Premier level Apple Specialist, MacXprts is a national network with a store in Columbia. They sell Apple products, provide customer service and offer training courses. Upcoming courses include Mac Basics, iPhoto and iMovie.
